I captured this image at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast QLD AustraliaTime
it was mid afternoonLighting
it was an overcast with intermittent rain & occasional sunlight breaking through the clouds so I chose to use flash to eliminate some of the shadowingEquipment
this was shot using my Canon 600D with a Tamron 28 - 200 1:3.8-5.6 & a Canon Speedlite 580ex11Inspiration
I have always loved the big cats but trying to shoot decent captures through wire or glass at zoo's presents its own challenges so when I had the opportunity to visit Dreamworld I made a beeline for Tiger island & positioned myself close to the action I consider myself very fortunate to have been able to capture this imageEditing
the image is as it was taken with no post processingIn my camera bag
My kit at present is a Canon 600D accompanied by a Canon zoom18-55mm 1:3.5-6.5 a Tamron 28-200 1:3.8-5.6 a Tamron 10-24mm 1:3.5-4.5 a Canon 55-250mm 1:4-5.6 & my most recent purchase a Tamron SP 90mm f/2.8Di macro 1:1 I'm probably a bit spoiled for choice in the lens departmentFeedback
If it was possible I would try to be in the natural habitat preferably in a safari park in the safety of a purpose built vehicle. failing that a breeding zoo where they train the animals to do that which their parents would teach them in the wild.if you are in a Safari park luck will pay a huge part in whether or not you are able to obtain a good image if your going to be somewhere like Dreamworld get there well before the show is due to start maybe even view a show without the camera so you know what to expect & where best to position yourself to give you the best chance of obtaining a good image.
