Behind The Lens

Location

Photo was taken in Stanley Park in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia. The park has been voted the world's best urban park on several occasions, and moments like the one pictured here are part of the reason.

Time

This was shot between 8 and 9am, PST, when the goslings are usually scampering about under the watchful eyes if a parent.

Lighting

I shoot using only natural light so positioning always plays a role in my shots.

Equipment

This was shot with a Nikon D5600 and a Sigma Art 24-105mm, hand held.

Inspiration

Mother Nature always inspires me, be it Spring moments like this one or the chills of winter.

Editing

This image was processed very minimally on Lightroom, just to "even out the light" a bit.

In my camera bag

Since shotting thiscimage I've upgraded to a Nikon D850 and carry a variety of Sigma Art and Nikon lenses, a tripod, various filters and all the other usual necessities.

Feedback

My only advice is to just get out there and shoot, and experiment with different camera settings so you can learn how they impact your photos. I'm self- taught and it worked for me!
