We were just having some morning wake-up coffee around the campfire, when this little guy dropped his mouse and ran over to check us out, nearly running up my leg! Then he scampered back over to get his breakfast and took off.

Location
This was taken just behind my great-grandparent's log homestead cabin high in the northern Colorado rocky mountains. We were camping near it while making repairs to the cabin, most of which was built using a team of horses and Granpa's axe.Time
I was the first one out of the tent, so I had gotten a campfire started. I had my camera out and my cup of coffee, and was soaking up the early morning sun when this guy showed up!Lighting
I love sunny, clear mornings, and early-morning mountains rarely disappoint! The weasel was between me and the full sun, so it showed off his highlights nicely!Equipment
Canon 3ti with my 28-70mm kit lens. I shoot an 80D now, but my 3ti still rides along as a backup, and my daughter is using it to learn with. Just like in archery, while new equipment is cool, it's not actually the primary factor in getting good results! Learn to shoot whatever you have!Inspiration
I usually carry my camera along everywhere, including on the Ambulance at work. You never know what you'll spot! That day, I was planning to finish my coffee, then go look for some wildlife. I had no idea said wildlife would join me for breakfast!Editing
I didn't have any software for editing yet, so about all I did was maybe crop it a bit.In my camera bag
Pelican case, Canon 80D and 3to bodies. Tamron 16-300 mm zoom. Canon 55 and 85 mm primes. 28-70 and 70-250 mm kit lenses. Leatherman and spare batteries. A second bag with MagMod kit, more batteries, cleaning equipment, Nissen di700a flash and another cheaper flash. Monopod and tripod strapped to the bag.Feedback
Wherever you go, learn to watch for animals and birds. Keep a camera with you (My phone can do a lot, but I love my cameras)! People can be just as much fun, and can be just as tricky to catch!
