Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at 2 am when the train station is closed to public.

Time

Night lol... 2 am as i said. Advantages of working in the railroad. I got a empty station with a beautiful light... and no trains. It was rainning outside... A lot!

Lighting

The problem in this photo is the brightness of the light and the darks/shadows. Had to overexpose a little and then cut the highlights on edition to avoid noise on edited shadows

Equipment

I used my Canon 70D with a Canon 24/105 L lens no flash. Unfortunatly couldn´t use a tripod because of the unstable ground

Inspiration

Calatrava´s Oriente Station is a beautiful piece of architecture... same as all the Parque das Nações zone. Plenty of spots to explore. I saw the opportunity to shoot it empty and i took it. I advise all of you that visit Lisbon to spend some time in this city area

Editing

Yes. I used LR to cut the highlights due to intensional over exposition of the photo

In my camera bag

I normally use a compact camera because i don´t have the space to carry the DSLR. My travel companion is a Sony Cybershot HX60.

Feedback

Use a tripod if you can. Could lower the ISO and avoid the image noise attached to it. In this particular image i knew where i was putting myself into. Shooting between railroad tracks (specially high traffic ones) it´s not a good idea
