Taken NOT at primetime for photography.....mid afternoon,.....sun high. However, best time to capture happy hot elephants playing in water mud. Sometimes, photographic rules need to be thrown out the window and you capture your moment.Lighting
By chance......perfect lighting. I really take no credit for it. I love photography and am so keen on learning more to create beautiful memories that represent my moments that are precious. Not willing to pass on a moment that is not within the lines of photographic guidelines. My eyes and soul guide me.....everything else follows.Equipment
Actually....cheap camera that was shoplifted out of my bag just recently in London, England. No tripod....just a simple camera. My equipment has become more important to me as of late. I value highly whatever I have on hand......for a moment is forever captured in memory....even better if captured to share with others.Inspiration
What inspired me? Well.....I was there for selfish reasons. To connect with one of the most majestic, soulful creatures on this planet. To support sanctuary work and rescue of such beautiful hearts. The elephant is my inspiration in this photo. I was just lucky to capture mum and son playing with the older brother. This is family in the purest form that I have ever seen.Editing
Nope....was a newbie at this point. None. I am ok with that.In my camera bag
..Nikon 5300....Nikor 70-300 mm lens.....Nikor 24-120mm lens....trusty tripod....batteries (hopefully all charged!), cleaning supplies and a bag full of hope. I am just building my bag of equipment. Learning to take chances with new skills. Need a wide angle when ready for it and looking into filters for down the road.Feedback
Photography is all about opportunity, near or far. It is about the moment. It is about your own feelings and creativity in that moment. We will all be given different opportunities. Take advantage of them. Travel at home if you cannot travel far. Follow your passions. This photo captures my passion for elephants. African or Asian they are at risk for leaving this world in their natural habitat ....as early as 2025. This photo through my eyes captures their sense of family, play, love and the joy of living. Photography is such a great way to catch that joy and share it. Take pictures of what speaks to your own heart and soul. At the end of the day, your photography needs to be first about yourself....if not there is no point in sharing with others. Photo on.......
