I took this photo on my models front lawn, it was the first time I ever used a model and I was still in the learning phases as I still am. I had her change into so many different outfits and I would place her in different areas of her yard, and for this shot the dress was perfect so I made her lay down and I fixed the dress so it would look like a flower and I told her to act like she was sleeping, it was a perfect shot and I was so lucky to capture it!Time
I can not remember what time of day, we were there for hours, I was learning so much about lighting and natural lighting at this point, and I knew what I liked and was learning how to use natural lighting to get this shot.Lighting
I love natural lighting in photography, it is the best I think and it has endless possibilities, if I had to go into a studio and set everything up all the time, I think I would not love photography as much as I do, I prefer candid shots and just going for it.Equipment
The only thing I had at the time was a Sony alfa and it did the job, no tripod, and no flash. Just extra batteries and extra sd cards, that's it.Inspiration
She was such a pretty model and she had great cloths and she was free!Editing
I did use post production on this with photoshop, I sharpened it more and put more contrast in it to hide all the imperfections, I was also learning the software at the same time.In my camera bag
What I always have in my bag is my new Sony a7 .... Love this camera, extra batteries and extra sd cards and an umbrella just in case the sun is over my head, I use it to shade the screen so I can see what I am shooting and a cloth to clean my lens, thats it! Oh and I always have a flash light because I use that at night instead of a flash sometimes.Feedback
Just go outside and learn your camera, go out at all different times and see how lighting changes everything, do the same inside, experiment with flash, experiment with bugs, animals, people, lenses, learn how to tell a story with your pictures. I always have my camera near me at all times, I am still learning so much everyday and am in love with photography and keeping it simple. If I had to carry tons of gear around and try to set up shots all the time I would hate it, but that is not my style, go learn your style and have Fun doing it and you will amaze yourself and see a whole different world through your lens!!!
