Behind The Lens

Location

I take this image in a nearby peat-place.

Time

*laugh*...just one moment - I'll have to take a look in the exif-data... it was around 4pm in may. :-)

Lighting

It's just taken with available light - nothing else. It was a cloudy day (which I prefer for outdoor-shootings) and so there are no heavy shadows in the face.

Equipment

Just my Fuji x100t, no flash - nothing else.

Inspiration

I often use the nearby swamps and peat-place for shootings. If I'm not wrong this image originated on the second time I'll meet the place. We've thought that the mysterious and spacy look fits perfect to the models expression and the brand of the dress. The old roots looks like some kind of bones. I've captured much photos there - this one is my favorite from the series.

Editing

I'll made black/white-conversion in Lightroom - that's it. No retouch, nothing else.

In my camera bag

I'll love to take a small camera with a fixed focal-lenght in my bag or around my shoulder. I don't like to carry heavy stuff (like my DSLR with several lenses) for outdoor-shootings. Actually I use my Xpro2 more than my X100t, because of the image-quality. I've have several lenses - but my favorite is the 35mm/f2 and the 50mm/1.2 (for more portrait and bokeh).

Feedback

Like I always say: don't take to much stuff with you! Just one or maximum two (fixed focal) lenses. Turn on the cameras black/white-filter on (if possible) - this will reduce the input from what you see and you are more focused on the model. Use the viewfinder to get not disturbed from whats around you. Move around and near and far from the model - try several viewpoints and angles.
