Location
The photo was taken at the U. S. Air Force Academy locates in Colorado Springs, Colorado.Time
I took the photo during the late afternoon. We had just driven in faring Kansas City and were planning on spending the night at a local motel.Lighting
It was an overcast afternoon and I believe the clouds gave the photo a great dramatic effect that the black and white really brought out.Equipment
I used my Canon 70D camera and a wide angle lens that I no long own.Inspiration
The building’s architecture is very unique and it is a place I feel in love with when I first saw it back in 1965.Editing
The photo was originally shot in color so changing it to black and white was the major change. The contrast was increased to make it look more dramatic, also.In my camera bag
If I am on vacation, I try to pack at least both canon cameras, 70D and the 5D Mark IV. A tripod is a must and for lenses 24-70, 70-200,and either a wide angle or macro depending what I might be shooting. Occasionally I might include some filters but I really use them.Feedback
Some luck is always involved in trying to get that special shot. If you have the time to scout out a shot first then that is the best chance you may have to get the photo you want. I got real lucky on this one and then try changing it to black and white may even make it the manically photo you want.
