No where special. It was taken on a little patch of crocus I have in my back garden.Time
Was taken just after 1230 mid-day in March. Was take a few years ago. I just remember thinking how beautiful my patch of crocus looked through the window and thought about I'd take a photo of them. Was a little surprised when I saw this little chap on the crocus.Lighting
All natural lighting. Was a lovely sunny day, with just the odd white fluffy cloud passing by.Equipment
I used a Sony a77 with the kit lens (16-50mm), handheld. F4 at 50mm, ISO 100 and 1/350.Inspiration
As previously mentioned, I was looking at how beautiful the patch of crocus looked in my garden through the window, and so decided to grab my camera and take some shots of them before they died. Down on my hands and knees photographing crocus in my back garden must of looked crazy to some people. I heard the buzz before I saw the bee, so was aware there were bee's in the area. Looking through the view finder, panning around the flowers, I suddenly caught sight of the bee. Not knowing just how close I was to the bee, I looked up from my camera. Little surprised, I started following the bee around the patch of crocus, as he happily went from flower to flower for a good 10 minutes, before flying off.Editing
I ran an action I created to sharpen and auto adjust levels. Once the image was looking more suitable, I decided to crop the image square and get in closer to fill the screen more. Make the bee the focus of the image. In my camera bag
I normally have my Sony a77 with the kit lens on, a 70-300mm F4-F5.6 zoom lens & 2 flash guns. My bag needs up dating, the zoom lens has seen better days and one flash gun is broke, yet I still carry it around.Feedback
Advice, erm......be patient, get down to the level of your subject and don't annoy the bee! I've heard they sting hehe.
