I took this picture in Iceland in September 2014Time
It was in the afternoon, I would say around 4pm if I rememberLighting
It was not easy to capture this image, the light was quite challenging because the surroundings were pretty dark compare to the sun beams and they only appear for few minutes then the clouds covered them backEquipment
Canon 6D and 24-105mm f4 L - hand heldInspiration
It was during a day trip to discover the beautiful region of Snæfellsnes in Iceland. Unfortunately it was pouring all day and we could see almost nothing. then we stopped for a while in a small village called Stykkisholmur and suddenly the rain stopped so I literally ran on a small hill near by the harbor and I had the chance to capture the incredible sceneryEditing
Yes I had to open-up the shadows and clean up the noise in the dark areas. I also increased a bit the contrast and that was basically itIn my camera bag
My lovely Canon 6D, 16-35 f2.8 L , 24-105mm f4 L , 50mm 1.4 , flash Yongnuo 568, filter ND 1000 and of course a steady tripodFeedback
As I mentioned above, it was really a bad day and I was resigned to capture a decent picture during this tour but suddenly I saw the light changing so I looked for the closest and highest point of view so I ran as fast as I could to reach that hill and get on the spot. So the best advice I can give is to never loose hope because sometimes the best pictures are the less expected so don't be afraid of getting sweat or wet or both ;) You have to trust your instinct and also get your gear ready to shot because the light won't wait for you !
