Location
In my kitchen, which has the best light in my condo, so it doubles as a studio workspace.Time
At night. Given the style of photo, I didn't want any sunlight.Lighting
Since I was experimenting with the zoom effect, I had an led light shinging directly on the surface of the compact disc.Equipment
An Olympus OMD EM 10 micro four-thirds with the kit 14-40 lens, that I had just bought at the time. Handheld. The compact disc had water sprayed on it. In camera flash. Nothing remarkable.Inspiration
I had seen photos of zoom effect and was eager to try it with my new camera. I love to experiment and the beauty of digital is that you can experiment all you want.Editing
Minimal editing - cropped a bit, nothing else.In my camera bag
These days I have the EM 10 mark ii. I use the Olympus 14-150 as my "walking around lens" as it gives me the greatest choice for least weight, and I truly love my 60 mm macro prime. I have a longer telephoto for bird watching, and a 17 mm prime for street photography.Feedback
It takes some experimenting to get the zoom effect not blur beyond what you want and give you the effect of fireworks. It gives you a very different if you are zooming out versus zooming in.
