Location
I was on an outing to the McClelland Sculpture Gardens and Gallery in Melbourne . The gardens are filled with outstanding sculptures and this one attracted my eyeTime
it was well into the morning with the sun high in the sky so the shadows were almost directly below the sculptureLighting
I would have approached the lighting very differently now with a DSLR but this was taken in2012 with a point and shoot Pentax so I had no control apart from the limited presetsEquipment
I used a Pentax Optio point and shoot pocket cameraInspiration
the geometrical strength of the sculpture design and the resulting shadows were the inspiration to capture this image ..Editing
i have converted to B&W as I felt the monochrome worked well with the patterns of the sculptureIn my camera bag
today in 2015 I carry a Canon 1100D, an 18-55 mm lens and a 55-250 zoom lens .. several filters, a tripod and monopod, remote shutter release and cleaning equipmentFeedback
I feel this image shows that assessing what you are seeing and looking for the best possible angle for the shot is more important than equipment used .. I was very happy with the results from this small compact camera
