These magnificent redwoods found in the north western corner of California stretch hundreds of feet into the sky, and have trunks that average 12-15 feet in diameter. They are spectacular trees and some of them have been alive for over 2000 years.

Location
I took this photo at Redwoods State Park in Northern CaliforniaTime
It was taken at about 11am.Lighting
it was very dark in the forest, so I had to use a tripod.Equipment
I used a Canon 5D Mark II and a 14mm Canon lens.Inspiration
The height of these trees inspired me to take this photo.Editing
This is an HDR image. In my camera bag
I usually carry an 8-14mm Canon zoom, a 28-135mm Canon zoom and a 100-400mm Canon zoom as well as a 2x extender.Feedback
I really love ultra wide angle lenses and I try very hard to use them when possible. If you are going to use a very wide angle lens, try to find compelling ways to engage the subject. Usually getting close to a part of the subject helps me find the right way to use an ultra wide angle lens.
