Amazing job and congratulations on taking a photo good enough to be my Challenge Winner!!! There were 6 other photos almost as good as this one and I feel terrible not being able to give them an award but yours was the best because of the detail in the wings, and that it is a totally natural shot with almost NO editing AT ALL!!! Have a wonderful week Eddie! Thanks for entering my challenge!

Location
Taken at the Sax-Zim Bog in Minnesota!Time
I love the early morning sunrises at the Sax-Zim Bog when I look for Owls. I usually drive over in the dark and start driving the road at first light. I found this Great Gray Owl hunting in the ditches for rodents. I was able to get into the wet grass and somewhat camouflage myself as I watched this young owl hunt. For about an hour I followed behind it as it moved down the ditch from perch to perch. I was hoping it would fly back towards me rather than away from me. I have a lot of photos of its back and side as it flew or landed. In this photo I was able to capture the GGO as it came in for a landing.Lighting
It was all natural lighting.Equipment
This was taken with my Nikon d500 and the Nikon 200-500mm zoom. It was handheld with no flash.Inspiration
I love looking and finding Owls. I was able to get many great shots of this owl. It’s the best two weeks of Owl photos I have ever had. I was able to capture this bird flying with prey and perching and eat the voles and moles whole. This is still my favorite capture!Editing
Yes, I process everything in Lightroom and Photoshop. I mostly worked to bring out the detail in the shadows in the wings. I enhanced the blue skies to get the color back as the exposure was on the owl. I edited out the telephone poles and replaced the perch. In my camera bag
I carry a full kit in the car. I am set up for Landscape photos with my Sony a7iv and wildlife with my Nikon d500. I have a full set of lenses, tripods, straps etc. I use an over the shoulder sling strap when I’m not using a tripod to keep my hands free.Feedback
