Location
At the local airshow 5 years ago.It is referred to as the Quinte Air Show and it is held at CFB Trenton Ont. It is open to the public ,with a huge number of planes of all types ,readily available for viewing, inside the cockpits and on the tarmac.Personnel answer any questions about the operation of the planes. A wonderful chance to expand your knowledge of an airbase.Time
Taken at midday.Lighting
The original photo was very stark---a cloudless blue sky.Equipment
A Sony A-65---handheld---no tripod.Inspiration
the mass of the airplane, the power, and the authority was the feeling that I had. But the cloudless blue sky and the heat of the afternoon were not what I wanted to convey. Needed something more to give me the essence of the aircraft.Editing
So I tried to substitute a number of different sky backgrounds. And I cannot even remember which photo program I used. Tried a couple and found this one. It contained the authority of the aircraft, but it also had an ominous feel to it which was what I have always felt about airplanes like this. It seemed OK.In my camera bag
Normally the Sony A 6000 or the Sont A65.Feedback
Feel the essence of the subject. When you are photographing and you see something, there is a feeling that comes across you and you want to take the photo, Take it. When you get it to the postprocessing stage, see if the essence is still there, and then work at it until you find the essence of the subject. Keep at it until the feeling comes back to you. Then hope that your viewer feels it as well!
