Location
This photo was taken in the woods of Ter Apel, a small town in Groningen, The Netherlands. Ter Apel is known for its monastery, and the beautiful forest surrounding it, which was the home for this little mushroom.Time
We took a long walk on this day, and the sun was already setting. The last sunbeams were enough to let this mushroom stand out and shine.Lighting
Less light available, so I used a larger aperture, which created the beautiful bokeh on this image.Equipment
Shot with a Canon EOS 6Dii, combined with 50mm F/1.8 prime.Inspiration
We took a long walk, searching for photogenic mushrooms, and this was an excellent candidate. It was growing on a log, together with a whole village, but this one alone was catching my attention.Editing
Yes, it was cropped to an interesting composition and I used a bit of the slides in Lightroom and adjusted the whitebalance to a bit warmer tone.In my camera bag
It depends on my plans what I do take with me. My walk around equipment is the Canon EOS77D, combined with the Sigma 17-50mm F/2.8. This delivers a nice midrange focal distance. But I'm getting more and more attached to my Canon 70-200mm, a heavy fellow, which delivers even better on my EOS 6Dii, so to skip my workout in the gym, I take this set with me even more often.Feedback
Take your time to search for the right angle. Each scenery has its own beautiful side. Even the smallest mushrooms can be beautiful and simple. This one was growing on a log, which was catching the last sunbeams of the day. For a nice bokeh, use large apertures, and try out what light and situation gives you this. The more you try, the better you can predict this while you enjoy the beauty of nature.
