Location
This photo was taken on the valley floor of Yosemite National Park located in California.Time
It was a chilly, late afternoon the day I took this photo. My friend and I had driven 2 1/2 or three hours just for the day. So even though we were both freezing cold we didn’t want to waste the opportunity, and all that driving time, so we went for a walk around the valley floor.Lighting
I would have loved to capture this photo during the golden hour. But it turned out to be a great photo due to the play between the light and the shadows.Equipment
This photo was taken with my Pixel 2 phone.Inspiration
I loved how the clouds were seemed to be hanging and how Half Dome was peeking through them.Editing
I did a little bit of post-processing in SnapSeed. I brightened it some, brought up the vibrance and saturation, bumped up the contrast, sharpened the image, and added a vignette. In my camera bag
I normally just have my phone camera. When I do take out my DSLR then I always have my 50mm prime lens and my 70-200mm zoom lens, an extra battery, and a small tripod.Feedback
Be patient, wear warm clothes, and enjoy your trip! For nice lighting opportunities go either one hour after sunrise or one hour before sunset for that golden hour effect.
