Behind The Lens

Location

Last summer our family vacationed on the southern coast of CA. We stayed at Marriott's New Port Villas. The landscaping on the grounds is beautifu! They have a pond with beautiful Water Lilies. This is where I snapped this photo.

Time

As we were walking by the pond in the late morning, this Water Lily stood out to me.

Lighting

Since this was taken in the middle of the day the lighting was a little harsh. So I just my body to create a shadow to soften the light.

Equipment

The only camera that I had with me on the trip was the one on my Pixel2.

Inspiration

I love Water Lilies and have always wanted to get a good shot of one.

Editing

I used the Snapseed app to post-process this photo. It didn't need much editing. But I did use the sharpening tool and added a vignette.

In my camera bag

Most of the time I only have my Pixel2 phone camera on me. However, when I take my Canon out I usually always have my 50mm prime lens, 70-200mm long lens, as well as a small tripod.

Feedback

Keep you eyes open and be alert, you never know when you will come across something that you can capture!
