Take in the Light
I just got back from an awesome road trip which resulted in some crazy experiences, excellent photographs and an amazing time. On the second day in the Black Mesa we decided to head into Colorado to explore more of a canyon we visited last year. We hiked and photographed birds and lizards before taking so more off road trails further into the canyon. After the beautiful morning we then started to drive back down the long dirt roads towards our B&B to get some lunch. Before we made it back to the Black Mesa we notice what looked to be smoke in the distance. Before long we witnessed a very long line of traffic heading in the opposite direction on what is usually a barren country road. Once we arrived at the B&B we realized a wildfire had started fairly close to us and not far from the town of Kenton. We parked and could smell the smoke and see the volunteers racing up and down the roads with water trucks patiently waiting to see what happened next. As the sky darkened we could see the orange glow in the sky as every gust of wind made the fire spread and move in closer. At dinner we were praying the winds would either slow down or change direction. Luckily the winds did change direction and stopped the fire from pushing towards us and reaching the town of Kenton.
