Ye Old Farmstead

Right now I am in the Black Mesa, Oklahoma teaching a night photography workshop. The skies in the Black Mesa area are extremely dark which makes for epic viewing and night photography. My friend Martin and I hiked out to this location during the day to scout and we were really impressed with how it would line up with the Milky Way. Once the sky darkened we headed back out to the old farmstead with our headlamps, cameras and low level lights to capture lots of images. We hike with bright headlamps to keep our eyes peeled for the dangerous snakes and spiders while the sound of cicadas echoed though the Mesa. While we were photographing we got to watch the fireflies dance and listened to the coyotes howling. It is so incredible out here and you can truly see the heavens shining above!
