The photo was taken at the Bike and Music Weekend Geiselwind 2017. The photo shows the singer of a German rock'n'role band called RocksinTime
The photo was taken at early afternoon shortly before a rain shower interrupt the performance a little bit.Lighting
I used only available light for this shot, it was and outdoor stage without any additional lights.Equipment
The photo was taken with a Sony A7II and a Sony EF 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS lens at 200mm F3.5 1/500 sec. ISO 100.Inspiration
The stage had a boardwalk in front and the singer was sometimes standing on this boardwalk. In this moments I was able to use some trees in the distance as blurred out background which was much more pleasing than the black stage curtains.Editing
I post processed the photo with Adobe Lightroom. The band is playing rock’n’roll influenced by the 50’s so I decided to go into a vintage direction. I mainly used split toning and added a greenish-brown tone to the highlights and I added a light magenta tone to the shadows. In my camera bag
I’m using mainly a mirrorless Sony A7II and A6300 camera. Because I’m mainly into concert photography I’m using fast zoom lenses like the 24-70 F2.8 and 70-200 F2.8. As a concert photographer, I don’t use prime lenses much, in front of the stage I need the flexibility of a zoom.Feedback
Not only care about your subject, also care about your background, try to find a background that is not distracting.
