Location
I took this photo at the Grand Canyon in 2005. It was during a Veterans Day weekend. I went to Phoenix and later took a tour bus up to the Grand Canyon.Time
This particular photo was taken between 4-5 pm. So dusk was beginning to fall on the canyon itself.Lighting
It had yet picked up any shadows. So it was still pretty light on the rocks and water.Equipment
I used my Canon EOS Rebel. a telephoto 70-200 mm lens. Tripod.Inspiration
I liked how the Colorado river was splicing through the two formations. This is why I titled it Cutting through the Canyon.Editing
I brought it back to my computer and used some special effects to bring out the brightness of the rocks and the water. I wanted it to make it look more like a painting rather a photograph. I have done this on other photos I have done.In my camera bag
I Carry a Canon Rebel, several lens, i.e.-macro, wide angle, and telephoto. A flash and trip[ods. Pen and paper for notes. A lot of water for long hikes. Lens shades filters and brushes to clean my lenses.Feedback
Find your insperation by ding the right subject. whether its a canyon, tree, lake or person. Be patient with a landscape because if you take the shot it may not be the right one. In my opnion lanscape is the best to shoot because you are working with what mother nature is giving you and is going to give 5 mins. later or five hours alter. Early morning and late afternoon are the best times. if you can find a third object i.e.- animal, person, or other natural object is this great too.
