Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken on a back road to my house. I'm new to photography and have a predisposition to nature shots and thought this scenery was a good place to start practicing my skills.Time
It was just after a big storm and it was hot and muggy outside and I had to climb a hot pipe fence just to get the right angle. Even though my lens was fogging up every other shot it was a perfect day-after-the-storm kind of shot that I felt needed to be taken. The picture was taken at 11:22 on June 2, 2016.Lighting
It was a semi-clear day with the still rising sun coming from my right.Equipment
It was taken with a Canon EOS REBEL SL1 with a 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens. Nothing else was used.Inspiration
I drive by it everyday to get home and always thought that it'd make a good picture. Eventually I thought that enough that I decided to act upon it, and, after a particularly large rain that flooded the pier and trees, I thought that was the perfect time to take the picture. So, I went out there early in the morning and took pictures with the sun in different positions until I found the perfect lighting.Editing
I reduced the sun bleaching of the colors and restored them the best I could to the actual colors I saw with a generic photo editor pre-installed on my computer. In my camera bag
I'm a minimalist. The less I have the less I have to mess up, so I only carry two things with me in my camera bag. My camera body, Canon EOS REBEL SL1, and my lens, an 18-55mm.Feedback
The best advice I have for anyone looking for that perfect picture is that there's no such thing as a bad picture. Some of the best pictures I've ever seen, be it professional or just for fun, are those that are seemingly mundane, because what is mundane for someone may be completely new and exciting to someone else. Never not take a picture because it's "just ordinary" because sometimes the ordinary is the most extraordinary things to see. Also, keep your eyes open at all times, you never know when inspiration may strike.
