We went down to Surfers early in the morning.
Unfortunately there was not much of a sunrise that day.
So here is another one from a couple of weeks before that, when a guy on his boat came through the perfect reflection.
The question is, enhancement or distraction??
Have a great week

Location
The photo was take on the Nerang river in Surfers Paradise Gold coast Australia. The location is about 1 hour south of my house.Time
I took this in the blue hour early in the morning to get there in the dark and set up. My wife and I left from home about 3 AM. Definitely worth the early rise, rewarded with a perfect mirror and not another soul in sight.Lighting
At the time I took quite a few long exposures with different setups. Just when I thought I found the composition I was looking for and the day started to break, I spotted the boat coming down the river, at first I wasn't too happy to lose the perfect mirror surface. I waited till just before it it came into view and started a long exposure ( 51 seconds) to make sure the light trails go through the whole frame and the ripples caused by the boat wouldn't show. As it turned out, it was quite lucky that the boat came along. I believe it enhances the photo.Equipment
This was shot on my Nikon D 800 with a 16-35 mm lens attached. My favourite lens for landscape. Other that I used my Giotto tripod and some patience.Inspiration
I been placing photos onto Flickr for a few years now ( Viewbug is only new for me ). Trying to learn from other peoples photos, I came across a few reflection shots from the Nerang river. Inspired by it I had to find out more about it, go there and give it a go. We went down there the first time only to find out it was low tide and I did not get the photo I was after. So one week later as the tidal times where right. We had another go. Since then, this has become one of my favourite locations close to home.Editing
Processing was mostly done in Photoshop's camera raw converter And the final touches with Goggles Nik collection and luminosity mask from Tony Kuyper. In my camera bag
When I go for Landscape I usually go for my Nikon 16-35 f4 lens but I also have the Nikon 24-70 mm F2.8 and Nikon 50 mm F1.4 just in case. Other than that I carry some ND filters (8 and 10), a torch to find my way and paint the foreground in some long exposures. Finally of course I never go anywhere without my tripod!Feedback
First of all! Do your homework, tidal times, weather reports, go there in the light to find your view points. Sites like Viewbug and similar are perfect places to find locations and compositions you might be interested in. There is no substitute for going out there and having a go, practice makes perfect and I am far from it so I shoot a lot. One of my biggest regrets is, when I started I did not take photos in raw! In the end, go out there and have fun! We all live on such a beautiful planet and there is a lot to discover. Thank you all Norbert
