I took this photo in our front yard, in Layton, UT. We have this beautiful tree that blossoms in the spring. I wanted to get some pictures of my daughter, it had been a while, and she is growing up so fast.Time
This was actually taken right before dark, the sun had just set. My hopes were to actually get outside while the light was hitting the tree beautifully, but by the time I was able to manage getting my daughters hair ready, we had just missed the light. I pushed my camera beyond my normal boundaries to capture this image as it was a quick impromptu session. No off camera lighting as time was limited.Lighting
I pushed my camera beyond my normal boundaries to capture this image as it was a quick impromptu session. No off camera lighting as time was limited. I had thought several times I should just get my lights out while capturing this image. I worked with what I had. And I am in love with what I got after all was said and done. It is amazing what you can accomplish when you are pushed outside of your comfort zone.Equipment
Nikon D800, old school Nikon Nikkor 35-70mm f/2.8D AF Zoom LensInspiration
Spring is finally here, and I wanted something that really captured the beauty of spring.Editing
yes, in some slight color corrections, due to the low lighting when I uploaded the image the color balance was a little off, I started in lightroom and gave it more of an airy feel in Photoshop. In my camera bag
All Nikon gear! I am a die hard Nikon fan. I always have my 50 mm 1.4 and the old school Nikon Nikkor 35-70mm f/2.8D AF Zoom Lens in my bag, along with 2 Nikon flashes, my white balance card / reflector, cleaning cloths, and memory cards. Extra batteries, chap stick!Feedback
No harsh lighting, overcast would probably be your best bet! Don't wait until after sunset like I did, this would be much easier earlier in the day when you are not struggling for light.
