Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Conondale, QLD, Australia at a VMX Meeting.

Time

It was late morning and I saw the bikes all along the line waiting for the start. I raced over as they started their engines and the smoke billowed out. I was just in time to capture the moment.

Lighting

It was a bright clear sunny day and the sun was shining on the backs of the riders and through the smoke creating this effect.

Equipment

I was holding my iphone 4s at the time so that is what I used in the heat of the moment. No time to get my camera out as I had only just arrived. So very happy to capture this on the iphone.

Inspiration

The line of colours and the smoke and the excitement of the moment.

Editing

No I prefer not to do any editing, using my eye and the camera to do the work - this is as taken.

In my camera bag

I normally carry my iphone and my Canon Powershot with me most of the time. You never know when you are going to see that picture and capture a great shot.

Feedback

Always keep your eye out for what is happening around you and be prepared, camera at hand. Too late when the shot is gone.
