Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken from my house in the Sacramento Valley CA. Looking East toward the Sierra-Nevada mountains

Time

This was taken at between 6:30 and 7:00 (approximately)

Lighting

This was simply natural outside lighting, time of day determined what light was available.

Equipment

I took this with a Canon Powershot SX30 IS. It's a small "superzoom" point and shoot type of camera with an 1/2.3" (~ 6.16 x 4.62 mm) (small) sensor. Camera was mounted on a light weight Opteka tripod

Inspiration

The color of the moon and mountans, along with the framing of the trees couldn't be ignored

Editing

No, I don't usually do any post processing other than cropping

In my camera bag

Now, I have a Canon T6i with a couple of kit lenses and a 70-300mm zoom for outdoor shooting

Feedback

As with most photos, it's location and timing. With a moving subject, albeit slowly, you need to get set up quickly and be able to adjust. The subject, in this case the moon, doesn't stay in position for long.
