Location
On an expedition through Cambodia to Vietnam on the Mekong River. This was the first stop off the boat at the village of My Tho, Tinh Tein Giang , Vietnam. It is renowned for its giant sculptures of Buddha.Time
It was still early morning and the size of the various sculptures were bathed in sunlight. The cream against the blue sky was quite inspiring. The detail of the Laughing Buddha ,in particular caught my attention especially the hands.Lighting
Being still early morning the light was not too bright and there was no shadowing.Equipment
My trusty Nixon D5200 with 18-55 lens never lets me down. It was hand held as I find tripods on a long trip awkward to transport.Inspiration
As mentioned the scale of these sculptures were hard to miss but the inspiration was the perfect hand and the round beads held in it.Editing
I always try to get my picture right in the view frame so very little needed to be altered as to the composition. I may have cropped a bit too make it fit rightIn my camera bag
Too much usually and when I cull I invariably need what i did not bring. So the works are 18-55mm lens, 55-300mm lens , macro lens and now I have added a 12-24 wide angle which I love for big landscapes and small rooms. Various filters but in sunny locations I usually use the UV only.Feedback
Always look of the different shot. That day I took several of the "conventional" but the best was the unexpected view. The Hand, The foot, Folds of clothing all were more interesting than the whole view which was also spectacular.
