This photo was taken in the lotus fields near Kampong Tralach ,which is on the shores of the Tonle Sap River,Cambodia.Time
It was very early morning just after sunrise.Lighting
The sun was just rise over the horizon and had a very soft yellow diffused quality about it. Coming from the side of the flower gave it a smooth silky look.Equipment
Nixon D5200 is my choice of camera and I had the 55-300 mm lens so that I could zoom in on the flowers as Lotus are grown like rice in water. I used f4.8 with iso 200. hand held.Inspiration
We were on a tour from Cambodia to Vietnam coming down the Mekong and tributaries by boat. This particular stop we were supposed to take an oxen ride to the village through the lotus and rice fields but they were late so we walked. This was a bonus as we were able to stop and take many magnificent close up shots along the way. The oxen eventually arrived presenting us with more interesting shots.Editing
I like to frame what I take in the camera. I don't know enough about photo shop or lightroom and do not have these programs. I don't shot in raw so therefor change little. As I progress I may try these as I see some wonderful results on view bug. This image , I think I cropped it slightly and thats about all.In my camera bag
I keep the usual. 2 lenses 55-300 and 18-55. I have just added a 10- 24 to play with. Spare batteries, cards, uv filter, polariser filter. I have now a tripod but did not carry one on this occasion.Feedback
Cambodia and Vietnam are the new go to places for tourists to explore. The people , culture and scenery are so diverse and lend themselves to photography. The light diffuses through the smog in some areas creating challenges but also opportunities. Thank you for the chance to share my memories.
