This image began as an attempt at a double expose-type image, which friend and photographer Robert Cornelius and I challenged each other to create. I tried it... and it just wasn't happening. I was fighting with the image. So instead, I decided maybe this wasn't going to be my double exposure image and stopped fighting it. I went with its flow and followed the direction it wanted to go in. And I'm very happy that I did :) I'll do a double exposure another time!

I can't say much about exactly where this image came from except for two things: carved marble angels at cemeteries, and the very brief description of a girl made of glass with a living, beating heart from Angela Carter's odd, poetic and erotic novel The Infernal Desire Machines Of Doctor Hoffman. That's all I know! My subconscious did the rest.
