Location
Taken north of the Torres del Paine, Patagonia, ChileTime
Late afternoonLighting
The sun had just caught the distant mountain slopes under the dramatic clouds showing the entire range in one panorama. With both the wind sock and and the distant mountains in bright sunlight a lucky moment.Equipment
Canon 40D with an EF s 17-55 2.8Inspiration
Lucky to find a windsock streaming out illustrating vividly the screaming wind blowing over the immense landcscape. The lenticular clouds showing what the wind was like above the peaks of the Torres themselves. Also most shots I have seen are of the Torres alone; this viewpoint showed the entire range whilst placing that range in the immensity of the landscape down there.Editing
A few levels adjustments but nothing of any noteIn my camera bag
In addition a zoom lens although it depends on what I am doing. A mini tripod plus some graduated filters and a spare battery. Don't want to lug gear around if hiking ( as here).Feedback
Light and "sky interest" are very important factors. They also change rapidly so my advice would be take too many rather than too few pictures. Also try and ensure interesting skies are captured with as much definition as possible. jonathan hood glancingshots.london
