Location
This photo was taken about 3 years ago on a high school field trip up Provo Canyon in Provo Utah.Time
This is one of my favorite photos, even to this day. It was taken mid afternoon on a sunny day. The photo was taken April 26, 2012 at approximately 1 in the afternoon.Lighting
Honestly, I was just playing around with my camera and standing in different places around my friend. I took a number of photos, but this one was by far the best of the bunch.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon PowerShot SX20IS with a 5.0-100.0mm lens, macro mode. No tripod, no fancy lighting. Just me, my friend and the sunshine.Inspiration
To be honest, it just kind of happened. I was taking photos of my friend during a high school field trip, and happened to capture the image. I took 5 or 10 of just her eyes, because she has very interesting eyes, and this image just happened. It is my favorite close up eye photo of another person thus far.Editing
The only photo editing I normally do is color correcting. I will usually increase the saturation and/or contrast and increase the shadows. I also like to make a lot of my photos black and white to make them more striking. In my camera bag
Right now, I just have my Canon PowerShot SX20IS, it doesn't have interchangeable lenses or fancy attachments. I am working toward getting a much nicer camera with lenses, either Canon or Nikon.Feedback
Definitely make sure that you and your subject are comfortable around each other, and that they are comfortable with you being that close to their face. Take a few shots from different distances to see what you like the best.
