Location
I took this photo in my backyard in the wildflowers I planted around the garden to attract pollinators like this one.Time
It was early afternoon (2:46pm to be exact) in September. It was a bright sunny day with lots of activity in the garden.Lighting
I shoot most of my macro handheld and as I was using the Canon MP-E (at 2.7x) at f9 flash was required. I use a canon twin lite mt-24ex for with my MP-E and typically have the flash balance skewed to one of the flash heads. This shot however both flash heads were even and together in the top most position.Equipment
Canon 5DmkIII, Canon 65mm MP-E, Canon twin lite mt-24ex and the Canon add-on grip.Inspiration
My eternal curiosity with nature. I never feel uninspired to go out and photography macro subjects. I find myself getting antsy and frustrated when I can't go out in shoot.Editing
+10 Clarity and Vibrance in Lightroom. In my camera bag
I would bring it all if I could but my bag (gura gear unita) doesn't hold it all. For macro work, and what does fit, is: 5DmkIII with grip, MP-E, Canon 100mm Macro IS, Canon 16-35 f4 L, Really Right Stuff 3 series tripod and BH-55 ball head, RRS macro rails, Canon 600EX-RT, camranger and sometimes a Sony RX100II and a Canon 70-200 f4 IS L. Other bits an pieces are lens pens, color card,Feedback
Gear doesn't really matter to be honest. I don't want to down play its factor in helping to create a higher ratio of shots that I like but I was happy with my Pentax K5 with cheap bellows and reversed 50mm as well. Any DSLR with a set of extension tubes a reversed lens and external flash can produce amazing results.
