Location
I took this photo at my favourite local beach, North Beach, Perth, Western Australia.Time
I went outside to check out the clouds mid afternoon and seen they were perfect for a sunset shoot, I got my gear ready and packed up the car, unfortunately by the time the sun started to set the clouds had nearly all but disappeared, so i went for a different approach and shot some long exposures.Lighting
The lighting was constantly changing as the sun was going down, just as the sun dipped below the horizon I pressed the shutter release and held it for 160 seconds producing this nicely exposed image.Equipment
This was shot using a Canon 6D with a Canon 17-40L F4 lens mounted ona tripod with a Hiada 3.0 10stop ND filter and a Hitech Reverse grad .9 ND filter.Inspiration
I have always loved the look of long exposure seascapes with the misty smooth ocean, after purchasing the appropriate equipment i couldn't wait to give it a go.Editing
I used simple Lightroom processing to darken the darks and lighten the lights, little bit of sharpening and noise reduction and some spot removal to remove a few sensor dust spots. In my camera bag
I always carry my Canon 6D around with me paired with my 17-40L and have the 24-105L in the bag, along with my filter pouch containing various filters, wireless remote, spare batteries and lens Pen and cloth for when I get area spray on my equipment.Feedback
Perth is known for it's amazing coastline and stunning sunsets over the coast, pick your location early and explore the coast and what it has to offer have some fish and chips on the beach, then as the sun starts to set start snapping and enjoy the moment.
