Congrats on your finalist place! Beautiful image made all the better by the dog being included in the shot. Beautiful colours.

Your dog caught my attention just as something has his. I especially like the tone and the great contrast of the leading line of the road.

My dog is a female named Stella! This particular morning was magical as the hoarfrost illuminated from the warm morning light! It lasted for about 30 minutes and was gone!

Location
I took this photo in the Louisville, CO North Open Space right after a fog and then freezing temperature!Time
This photo was taken at about 6:30am.Lighting
The light was early morning filtered light as the fog lifted and the temperature dropped leaving these white needles of frost on the grass, trees etc. know as hoarfrost.Equipment
Canon 5D MK II and Canon 17-40 Lens.Inspiration
I walk my dog every morning between 5:30am and 7:30am and miss less then 5 or 6 times a year! It is a good habit to get into and I never leave home without my camera and one or two of my lenses. This particular morning started out very foggy but I noticed as the temperature dropped there were frost needles forming on the tree branches and so I hurried to the meadow down from our mesa! The sight was breathtaking and no one else around. I came out into the open meadow and saw my dog Stella (who seemed to be taken with this odd world as well) I placed myself so the path was in the VF just the way I wanted it and here it is! There was no air movement what-so-ever and it was magical.Editing
I ran this Raw file thru Lightroom and only manipulated with contrast, sharpness and clarity! In my camera bag
I now use Canon 5D MK III & 6D and sometimes 400/f5.6L or 100/2.8 Macro L or 17-40 L.Feedback
Always be prepared, check weather before you go to bed and get up and enjoy the morning light! We get very little fog here in this part of Colorado and for me it is a treat, especially in December or January when there is a chance of hoarfrost! Luck has a lot to do with it!
