Location
This photo was taken in the model's bedroom in Phoenix, ArizonaTime
We took these images at about 5:00 pm in the evening.Lighting
I wanted this photo to reflect the soft light in her eyes, so I used a soft box as well as an external flash.Equipment
The Camera I used for this image was my Canon EOS 7D. The flash was the 580EX Canon external flash, and a 50 mm 1:1:4G lens. Aperture: f/5.0 ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/80Inspiration
The model was looking to send boudoir photos to her long distance boyfriend, and we wanted to focus on her eyes because they are beautiful! We kept it very soft, and light to make the image look more romantic.Editing
Yes, I used Adobe Lightroom to lighten the image, and to adjust the contrast to make it look less harsh. I also used Adobe Photoshop to do light retouching on her face.In my camera bag
My bag varies, I usually have my Canon 7D a 50 mm lens, my Nikon D800, and a nikon 50mm lens, at times a 70-200mm lens, and always an external flash. I always keep tons of compact flash cards with me.Feedback
I think the most important thing when capturing boudoir images is to capture romance, which is easier said than done. Keep it light, and make sure that the model is completely comfortable you're attempting to capture something thats very personal. When in doubt, have champagne for your model, and make it a whole experience. If possible shoot in an environment that makes them very comfortable like their home rather than in a studio. It's all about your individual client's idea of sexy. Sexy and romantic are words that mean very different things to different people. In order to get gorgeous photos you must be non judgmental and able to adapt while being natural. Piece of cake, right? It gets easier the more shoots like this you do.
