Portrait of a female California Condor: Easily a highlight of what has been a wonderful adventure was seeing wild California Condors. These Condors are on the critically endangered species list and were nearly extinct back in the 80s. Since then, more have been bred in captivity and recently re-introduced into the wild. I had the rare privilege of seeing four of these birds in the wild this week in Arizona. This was the female, perched in the girders under a bridge shortly after sunrise on Monday morning. The sun had been shining directly on the Condor that was sitting in shadows. Photographed on Navajo Bridge in Vermilion Cliffs, AZ. October 26, 2015
