While in the Scottish Highlands last week, I went on a couple of photo adventures with my friend Stu from the Arcanum. It's always interesting to be out with other photographers as your eye is sometimes drawn to completely different things. Our main goal at this location was to photograph a castle (the opposite direction!) but I saw this tree in the distance and just HAD to photograph it. I loved how the mountain behind it gave it a blue backdrop and I'm a complete sucker for a lone tree. The natural colours of this location were beautiful and I'm so glad I made the effort to carry the big telephoto lens down to the shooting spot. You never know what you'll find at a location so I tend to take all my lenses with me these days...just in case! Oh, and in case you're wondering what those two birds are - they're herons! I didn't even see them until I looked through the viewfinder at 400mm!
