It is true that it is cruel but we are referring culture here. It is not a good practice for some culture but for Filipinos it is accepted the same as hunting of wildlife in USA is legal. Regarding posting my photo or not it is my prerogative as photographer. I am not shy because when I took of photo, I am not admiring it. I took the photo to show other culture and no culture is bad.

And why should I be shy, if it is okay to post a photo of nude people is it not okay to post photo of the cock fighting? Or here is another case if it is okay with that Doctor of Minnesota to pose with the killed lion in a magazine? Is it not okay to post photo of cock fighting?

One of the images that I considered photojournalism and why should I be ashamed of posting it. It photojournalism bad or good will be posted. Why someone like you prevented me to do so? You need to go back to school of photography and please major in photojournalism so that you have the idea on why I am posting it.

First, I am impressed with how the photographer captured the action here. The people enjoyed watching the sport. It is legal sport in the Philippines. The same as Casino and any wild games here in USA. The photo is pure photojournalism, the photographer captured the moment and tell the stories that somewhere in the world some people are having this for sport. It is just like wrestling...some other culture cannot accept that it is a sport here in USA. Here in USA we allowed it but others they look at it as harsh for human. Each has its own opinion however IT DOES NOT HAMPER THE PREROGATIVE OR DECISION OF THE PHOTOGRAPHER TO PUBLISH OR NOT TO PUBLISH PHOTO/s and we do not have the right to tell her not to do so or telling her she must be "ashamed".

This is a "sport" that only thrives because people pay and allow it - they should the people in the ring to fight and let the cocks watch. You captured it well and edited it well, Gigi. You didn't condone the fight.

this is an image (and a very good image) and if it gets you talking about it then it works ..... good or bad! should cock fighting be banned or tolerated ? you decide! this is just an image of reality the rest is up to the viewer

A wonderful picture that not only tells a story but has people posting their personal feelings about it as well. This should show the power of this photograph. Well done.

I get that this is a legal activity in the Philippines but it is a sickening sport nonetheless. I feel the same way about bull fighting in Spain. I hate to see cruelty in any of it's many forms. That said, you did a great job of capturing the action and emotion of this event.

Not ok for any of those you mentioned. You are a great photographer yes. But I dont agree with any cruelty here in US or anywhere. Different from nudity also. How would you like to be that rooster instead of the photographer!

You have the right to say whatever you want to say. I just want to say this that the photo is exposing and initiating social change. wether it is cock fighting, wife beating, or police brutally, the truth is revealed through the photos that captured in your camera, sometimes the truth is unpleasant but still the truth.

Yes it is true. I agree on that. When I posted this photo it does not mean that I am advocating cruelty. I just post it to show to the viewer what happened during the moment when i captured this.

Voted ....you put this up here in good faith...not to show favour for the sport. So I think we should judge only the competence of the image. It is a great image...k

Thank you so much Kath. There are a lot of cruelty in this world. Think, during war between Vietnam and US, if nobody and no photographer had posted the violence during the time, do you think the people will not be pressured to go for rally and say something that "enough on war!". So it is the role of the photographer to post what he or she supposed to post to alleviate awareness and so change will happen.

We are not just limited to post beautiful landscape or human being or beautiful flowers. Whatever we think can help to change the status quo we can post it.
