I shot this photo inside the abandoned Detroit Public Schools Book Depository building. I was on a photo adventure with my friend Chris, my cousin Jesse, and my Uncle Bill. The film I had was for bright sunlight. The day was cloudy, snowing, and cold, and it wasn't much better inside the building. The weatherman had gotten the days mixed up, and the day before I had loaded my camera with film for a cloudy day and it had turned out sunny.

This image was taken without the use of a tripod, and it is astonishing that it even came out in focus. This piece was part of my Senior Showcase at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI. I am a firm believer in the residue left behind from days, and people gone by, and I like to capture that as much as possible. I think this image is a good example of that.

And so did my professor. And everyone who came to the Senior Show.
