I've been living in New Zealand for pretty much a year now and the other weekend my friends and I ventured up to Aoraki/Mount Cook national park. It is THE most awe-inspiring place I've ever visited - being surrounded by the highest peaks in New Zealand. The views and atmosphere definitely made camping in -3 degrees Celsius worth it, not to mention happening to coincide our trip with the Eta Aquarid meteor shower. Unfortunately I don't have a tripod and so couldn't catch any awesome photos of the stars but managing to tear ourselves away from our sleeping bags at 5am was worth it to see it with our own eyes.
