This is a composite photo from my WorldPix Photography Trip to Iceland earlier this year. I've been working on this for several months off and on. The foreground is the famous Kirkjufell Mountain that I captured at blue hour near an Iced-over pond that had slightly melted giving a brilliant reflection. I had to place my camera very near to the ground - maybe 6 inches off the ice - to get the reflection just right. The Sky is a 9 photo panorama taken in a field just outside of Reykjavik the night before the foreground was taken. We were driving back to Reykjavik to avoid a massive winter storm that was coming our way, but before we got to town the Sky lit up with the most brilliant Aurora I've ever seen - Green, Purple and Pink! We jumped out of the vehicle and ran into an open field and while standing in 2-3 feet of snow I captured the panorama that is the sky in this photo. I hope you enjoy the picture!
