This gnarly, twisted juniper sits precariously on a slight cliff at Turtle's Head (AKA Rattlesnake Point) in Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park, Vernon, BC, Canada. This is the oldest known tree in the Okanagan (some say 300 yrs). Also this is a 'marl lake'. This happens when the lake is warmed and limestone and calcium carbonate forms crystals that reflect sunlight to create its distinct blue/green colour.
