Coney Island is a residential and commercial neighborhood and entertainment area in the southwestern part of the borough of Brooklyn in New York City. It became a seaside resort in the mid-1900s, and by the end of the century amusement parks were built. Popularity rose and fell and many of the amusement areas and rides fell into disrepair. The area became popular again when MCU Park was established in 2001 and several amusement rides in the 2010s.
