This shot was taken northeast of Bismarck, not too far from Fessenden.

I like the idea of this scene, but there is not enough contrast in your black tones. They are all pretty much medium. I found that if I'm going to turn a color photo into a black and white, I make the color version extreme, then when I convert I have more variance of tones. Some software allows you to control each color and it does make a difference in the outcome. Keep at it. I think most of us are amateurs, and we all start from nothing. 😀
