The sulfur fungus is found throughout Europe except in northern and alpine regions. She is also known from all over the world. The fresh and colorful sulfur fungus begins to decline after a month or two and the remains can be seen on the tree for up to a year. Although the sulfur fungus also occurs on dead wood, it is mainly known as a formidable parasite of living trees. Living trees are infected through damaged areas. Healthy, undamaged trees are not affected.
