Many thanks to everyone that has taken the trouble to comment.
If anyone is interested this was taken using a Fuji HS20 bridge camera & a Raynox DCR 250 macro converter, which proves, I think, that you do not necessarily need the latest top of the range DSLR & a whole pile of expensive lenses to knock out a decent image.

This was a staggering image before I read it wasn't done with an SLR and thousands of pounds worth of lenses..just top drawer.
