This photo happened almost by accident. I was just walking around looking for a good angle, planning to get back with better conditions since the light was terrible and the weather was even worse. Suddenly the sky opened enough to let some sunlight through. the mist from the waterfall was glowing and for a moment everything seemed perfect. The tripod was in the car but I didn't have time to go back, I fired a short burst to make sure to get at least one sharp image out of a bad combination of slow shutter and long focal length. A minute later the light was gone, and on my way back to the car it started raining, then the rain turned into hail first and eventually into snow a few minutes later.
This is the beginning of the story of how I almost got stuck in Yellowstone N.P. for the night
