Excellent - and also an effective booby trap. It has been documented that the ancient pearl divers used to carry knives... and not to open the shells, but rather to amputate the leg accidentally caught in one of those. If they ever wanted to breathe again... So be very careful. Nice shot!

You should watch your fingers even with smaller shell sorts. In Adriatic, the Fan Mussel (Pinna nobilis) can pinch quite noticeably too, but the bonus is, the rim is mostly smooth and you can pull the finger out with hopefully no damage. Trouble is, they lock the muscles (there is usually two) and those have to be cut; no other way to open. But then the shell is killed... so it's better not to touch'em at all. Dive Safely!
