I took this at the zoo. It took a very long time to get the shot. He was very aggravated being pinned in a small area to the point the ground was pretty worn by making continuous rounds about the yard. I was sitting on the floor at the feet of many in a very crowded observation room behind very thick glass with my tripod. People would come and go behind me. Each time he would make a "round" he would only be a few feet away from me. It got to the point he would remember me sitting there and he would look at me as he would go by. Most people would come and go but I didn't and I think he noticed that... I feel like I made some sort of connection with him... I feel like there is so much sadness in his eyes...
